We raise rare English Longhorns and Munchkin Bengal Kittens

About MooKow Farms

At our farm we raise rare English longhorns and English longhorn cross cattle along with munchkin Bengal kittens.

We chose our cattle breeds for their meat quality and temperament. We have tried several different breeds and the English longhorns have proven to be the most enjoyable cattle to raise with excellent beef quality.

We chose the munchkin for their kitten like appearance throughout their life and the snow Bengals for their loving and affectionate personality and their beautiful blue eyes.

English Longhorn History

The English Longhorn originated from the northern counties of England. They were used as draught animals and their milk was used for butter and cheese. Their horns were treasured and used to make buttons, cups, cutlery and lamps.

Robert Blakewell(1725-1795) was revolutionary in the field of interbreeding and was devoted to improving livestock to provide meat for the people that worked in towns in the Industrial Revolution and for a short time became the predominate British breed. After his death the breed declined rapidly for 200 years making them rare and supplanted by the shorthorn as the principal breed. The breed was rescued by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust in 1980. English longhorns are a large lean beef cattle with horns that curve down to the nose. They have excellent milking ability, it is not uncommon for 6% butter fat. The meat has a velvet texture and delicious taste. Longhorn cows live to an unusually old age and keep on breeding.

Bengals are a hybrid cat breed, domestic cats were crossed with Asian leopard cats with the goal of a breed with an exotic appearance and temperament of a domestic house cat. Bengals can be spotted or marbled with standard colors like brown, snow and silver and non-standard colors like charcoal, blue and melanistic(solid black). Bengals eye color can be different shades of hazel, brown, green, gold or copper. Snow Bengals can have blue, blue-green or aqua colored eyes. Bengals are affectionate, loyal, energetic, playful and love to climb.
